As a bride-to-be, you have your hands full with wedding planning, like selecting your venue, finding your dream wedding dress, and taking care of all the small details no one thinks about. One thing that couples can quickly put to the side is their wedding registry. Everyone’s wedding registry looks different depending on their current living situation. Looking back at my wedding planning five years ago, I see many things I wish I had put on my wedding registry.
I lived with my parents before I got married and moved into a house with my soon-to-be husband, so we put many things on our wedding registry since we needed everything. There were things I had bought after our wedding that I wish I had put on my wedding registry, which is why I am writing this blog for you. This list below will help you create a thought-out wedding registry with practical and fun items you can enjoy in married life.

Why Create a Wedding Registry?
People will give you gifts when you get married, regardless of whether you want them. Making a wedding registry is the best way to take the guesswork out of gift-giving for your guests and ensure you get the gifts you want.
Wedding guests and family members will want to buy you a physical gift, and by ensuring you have your wedding registries listed on your wedding invitations, you will relieve a lot of stress by not getting a bunch of gifts you won’t use or don’t love. Don’t get me wrong; you will receive gifts you didn’t ask for on your big day (hello, weird bread plate I still need to take out of the box). There is no way to stop that, but at least you are increasing your chances of getting things you will use.

1. Amazon Wedding Registry: Who doesn’t love Amazon? You can register for home, kitchen, and lifestyle items on this site. Most people buy from Amazon, which is very convenient for wedding guests. I loved using Amazon for my wedding registry. You can make your own Amazon registry here.
2. Target Wedding Registry: Target offers various home and kitchen items to put on your registry. If you love the Magnolia line at Target, then this is your sign to sign up for a Target registry. 3. Zola: This platform offers an all-in-one experience. You can register for multiple stores and name brands using Zola and have a cash or honeymoon fund and experiences. You can register for Zola here.
4. Williams Sonoma Wedding Registry: Offering higher-end items and appliances, William and Sonoma is ideal for couples who enjoy the finer things in life. You can register for a Williams Sonoma wedding registry here.
5. The Knot Wedding Registry: If you have a wedding website through The Knot, you can set up a registry through them that connects the stores you have registered with. When I got married years ago, I registered at Target, Bed Bath and Beyond, and Amazon, and it shows all of my registry items on one page. You can make a Knot Wedding registry here.
19 Items I Wish I Had Put On My Registry:
1. iRobot Roomba
If you have dogs that shed or are a human with hair, you know you spend a lot of time vacuuming. A Roomba is an excellent robot vacuum, perfect for maintaining clean floors around your home. I wish I had put one on our registry because I spend a lot of time cleaning our floors. With the Roomba, you can map out your space and set up cleaning times, ensuring your floors are clean.
2. Water Filter
One of my biggest registry regrets is not including water filters. Most water, no matter where you live, needs to be filtered. If I could do my registry all over again, I would add a PUR water filter pitcher, a reverse osmosis filter, and a shower water filter. These items can get overlooked, but clean water is essential.
3. Storage Organization Items
If you love organizing your things, consider adding storage organization items to your gift registry. Shortly into married life, I realized the need for storage items in my new home, so I went and bought them at the store. Five years later, I am still buying different storage organization items. If I could go back in time, I would have put fridge, drawer, and bathroom organizers on my wedding registry.
4. Air Purifier
Like water filters, I learned after the wedding how important it is to have water and air filtration in my home. I wish I had added nice air purifiers to my registry. I bought an air purifier for our home after our wedding, but it was expensive. There are a lot of air purifiers out there at different price points, but pick the one that makes the most sense for you and your home.
5. Steam Mop
The best thing about a steam mop is that all you need is water and a mop, and your floors will be clean. I bought a steam mop because I didn't like the sticky feeling on my floors after using a spray mop. One of my friends loved her steam mop and encouraged me to get one, and then I was hooked! I have a Shark Steam mop, and if I could do my registry again, I would add this mop to it.
6. Carpets or Runner
I never considered adding carpets to my wedding registry, but you should! Carpets can add style to your space and protect your floors from scratches and scuffs. Add one or two to your registry if you want a new hallway, kitchen, or living room carpet! I have linked two aesthetically pleasing carpets. The hallway rug is washable, which I love!
7. Mattress Topper
Protect your mattress with a high-quality mattress topper! A nice mattress topper can extend the life of your mattress. Depending on how you like your bed, you can choose from memory foam toppers to quilted toppers. My top choice would be this hybrid mattress protector and pad. My husband and I bought one long ago, but I wish I could have added this mattress to my wedding registry.
8. Cooler
If you and your fiance are outdoor enthusiasts, you will want a high-quality cooler as a wedding gift! A Yeti or RTIC cooler is excellent for the beach, a lake day, backyard barbeques, and parties. I wish I had added a cooler to our wedding registry because it would have been excellent for traveling and beach days.
9. Patio Furniture
Do you have an outdoor living space that still needs to be furnished? Like a patio or backyard? Then, you should put some patio essentials on your wedding registry! I didn't think of this when I was getting married, but I love the idea of putting a patio set on a wedding registry. Patio furniture is an excellent registry item for people who love enjoying their backyard, so if that's you, add patio furniture to your registry.
10. Elegant Wine Glasses
Are you like me and have regular, boring wine glasses? Then add some fancy wine glasses to your registry! Nothing makes wine night more fun than drinking from a nice wine glass. If you already have nice wine glasses, consider adding nice champagne glasses to your registry list. You can use them to host cocktail nights with your close friends.
11. Immersion Blender
I only knew how much I would use an immersion blender to make soups after my wedding day. This multi-use immersion blender can blend, mix, whip, and froth! Add this to your registry if you love to cook.
12. Waffle Maker
I don't know about you, but my family loves a good waffle brunch, and if I could make my wedding registry again, I would put a waffle maker on it. They are great to use if you and your soon-to-be spouse love waffles or if you love hosting brunch. This Cuisinart double-flip Belgian waffle maker is stainless steel and easy to clean. The best part is you can make two waffles at once!
13. Le Creuset
Le Creuset is known for its durability and enameled cast iron cookware in various dishes, from casserole dishes to Dutch ovens, pans, cast iron skillet, and so much more. These are big-ticket items, but the quality makes it well worth it. I wish I had put a Le Creuset Dutch oven on my wedding registry.
14. Espresso Machine
Are you and your fiance coffee lovers? Then, you need to add an espresso machine to your wedding registry! This machine is a Nespresso, where you can put coffee and espresso pods and brew a high-quality cup of joe. If you are a coffee enthusiast, consider adding the Breville Espresso machine! I bought my husband a Nespresso machine a few months after our wedding, and we LOVE it! It gets a lot of frequent use. I would put this on my registry if I were you!
15. High Quality Towels
Include a nice set of bath towels on your wedding registry! These luxurious towels are perfect for everyday use. When I got married, I regretted not putting towels on my registry! If you don't have hand and face towels, add those as well.
16. Cutco Knives
If you love to cook, you know how important a good knife set is. One of my favorite things I received during my bridal shower was a set of Cutco knives. I didn't know how much a good knife would change my cooking game. An immediate family member gifted us our set, which we use often. These knife sets are expensive, so consider making this a group gift on your registry if you have that option.
17. Grill
You will want an excellent grill for those backyard barbeques or a summer dinner party! I wish I had put a grill on our registry, as it is one of those big ticket items I regret not adding. If you don't have room for a grill or live in an apartment complex where you can't have one, consider adding a grill pan to your registry that you can use on your stove. I have heard great things about Blackstone Grills and hope to buy one someday!
18. Luggage
Are you like me and have used the same old beaten-up luggage for years even though you know you should buy new ones? Then, you need to add luggage to your registry! If you and your fiance plan on traveling together in your future life, this is a no-brainer.
19. Honeymoon or House Fund
One of the biggest registry tips I can give you is to add a honeymoon fund or cash fund to your registry. Some registry websites, like Zola, will allow you to set up a cash fund on your registry, and if you have that ability, do it! Add gift cards to your registry to avoid any fees potentially being taken from the cash fund. You can add an Airbnb or airline gift card to your registry for your honeymoon, or future travels as a married couple. Gift cards are one of those items I wish I put on my wedding registry.
